CMF Tube Fly Tying Attachment

To use a CMF Tube Fly Tying Attachment, secure the tube on a mandrel or vice adapter, tie the fly materials onto the tube shank as you would a traditional fly, and then secure a specialized tube hook to the leader and slide it into the rear of the tube using junction tubing or the soft tube itself to create a ready-to-fish fly.

1. Secure the Tube:

• Place a piece of plastic or metal tubing onto a vice adapter or mandrel.
• Clamp the adapter into your fly-tying vice to hold the tube steady.
• If using plastic tubing, you may need to melt one end to create a lip that prevents it from sliding off the

2. Tie the Fly:

• Start your tying thread a short distance from the front of the tube, leaving some bare tube exposed at the rear.
• Tie on your chosen fly-tying materials (like flash, dubbing, and hackles) to the tube, working your way down the shank to create the fly.
• Finish the fly with head cement, as you would a traditional fly.

3. Prepare the Hook:

• Tie a specialized tube hook onto the end of your fly-fishing leader using your preferred knot, such as a tucked blood knot.
• Lubricate and cinch the knot tight, then trim the tag end.

4. Assemble the Fly:

• Take the prepared hook and leader and thread the leader through the rear of the tied tube.
• Slide the eye of the hook into the rear of the tube.
• For hard or metal tubes, you may need to use a piece of softer “junction tubing” to secure the hook.
• Push the hook into the tubing until it is held firmly in place.
