Orange Caddis Step 15 finished fly
Take about 5-8 strands of UV Flash
Orange Caddis Step 2 UV Flash
Trap the UV Flash on top of the hook and wind your thread back to the bend of the hook.
Then cut the UV Flash to have the fibers stick out about 5 mm.
If You wet the UV Flash with some water the fibers will stick together and it will be easer to trap them under the thread.
Orange Caddis Step 3 Trap and cut UV Flash
Colour Wire: Hends CWF-00
Take a section of Hends Colour wire in Silver CWF-00
Trap the wire and wind your thread back
to the eye of the hook.
You can use any colour wire to give your fly
a different look.
Orange Caddis Step 4 Colour Wire
Orange Caddis Step 5 Pheasant tail
Hends Pheasant Tail
For the back of the fly, take about 6 Pheasant tail fibres.
Measure the Pheasant Tail Fibres against the hook. Measure three times the length of the hook and cut.
Then take these cut fibres and starting at the eye of the hook, trap them and wind the thread all the way back
to where the UV Flash ends.
Orange Caddis Step 6 Measure Phesant tail
Orange Caddis Step 7 Trap the Phesant tail
Hends UV Blend Dubbing No UVB 06
Take a pinch of the Orange dubbing and twist the dubbing around the thread, between your fingers (spinning). Then wind the spun dubbing around the hook, to about half way, towards the eye.
The dubbing should be tapered towards the back of the fly and thicker in the middle.
Orange Caddis Step 8 Dubbing 1
Orange Caddis Step 9 add dubbing to hook
Hends UV Blend Dubbing No UVB 18
Take a pinch of the March Brown dubbing and spin it around the thread as before.
Wind the spun dubbing around the hook, from the middle, after the orange section, up to about half way between the end of the orange dubbing
and the hook eye.
Orange Caddis Step 10 Dubbing 2
Orange Caddis Step 11 add dubbing 2
Take the Pheasant Tail fibres and bring them forward. As you do that, take the Hends Silver wire SWF-00 and trap the Pheasant Tail fibres on top of the hook. Make sure that the Pheasant Tail fibres stay on the back of the hook.
Trap the wire with your thread, and cut the wire off.
Orange Caddis Step 12 bring Phesant tail forward trap with wire
Hends UV Spectra Dubbing No 05
Take a pinch of the Ochre dubbing and spin it around the thread as before, so that you can wind it around the hook.
Wind the spun dubbing around the hook towards the eye of the hook. Leave enough space before the eye,
for the head of the fly.
Now bring the Pheasant Tail fibres over the dubbing towards the eye and trap them.
Fold the Pheasant Tail fibres back towards the back of the fly and trap them. Finish the head of the fly by winding your thread around the hook a few times behind the eye and complete with a whip finish.
You can then put some Head Cement, Supa Glue or UV Glue on the thread to make sure the threads
don't come loose.
Orange Caddis Step 13 dubbing 3
Orange Caddis Step 14 bring phesant tail over and trap
To the right is an example of the finished fly.
You can mix and match the dubbing for different options and colours of flies. For example, on some days a green will work and other days a bright pink will work, so
you dont have to restrict yourself to one colour. To give the fly more weight, you can also add a bead to the hook before you start tying the fly.
If you don't feel like tying this fly you can buy it readymade. Just click on the link below.
